Call to Volunteer

Bill Mc Gann was born and raised in New York City, the son of a New York City police officer.  He has resided in Rhinebeck for 49 years, and he and his wife of 54 years, Donna, have raised their 5 sons here.

Bill graduated from La Salle Academy and he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Marquette University, where he enrolled in the Naval ROTC.  

A Navy veteran, he served as a Lieutenant (jg) aboard the USS Hermitage (LSD-34).  Bill has been an active member of the Rhinebeck American Legion Post for more than 35 years, including serving as a Past Commander.  For the past 20 years he has been the Post Adjutant, and has been a part of the Color Corps for 30 years.  

Bill has more than 30 years of business experience in the Sales and Marketing field, working for Sun Oil Co., NCH Corporation and Williams Lumber.  In addition to his professional career, he has been an active member of the Rhinebeck community for many years.  

He served for 2 years on the Village Board, and 8 years as the Town Assessor.  He was a volunteer with Rhinebeck Little League for 20 years, including 8 years as a manager, 9 years as an umpire, and 3 years as League President.  He also served for 15 years as a Coach and Referee in the Dutchess County CYO Basketball League.  

Bill’s many years of experience and commitment to our country, our community and our children will serve the citizens of Rhinebeck well, and make him an excellent choice for Town Board.
